The five-day
intensive training course offered by the Utah South Area Family
History Training Center covers both the research and computer aspects
of Family History work. This class runs Monday through Friday from
8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (with an optional Extraction class on Wednesday
night from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM) and is held every three or four weeks
throughout the year. This training is available for Family History
Center workers, Ward and Stake Consultants, and ward and stake members
in need of Family History training.
After reviewing the information on this page, if you wish to enroll
in one of the sessions, please respond as directed in the "Registration"
section below. Please note that there will be a $40 per person fee
charged to defray class costs. Acceptance to the training course
is based upon availability of seats in the class you request. You
will be notified of your acceptance and will be given instructions
for submitting your registration fee at that time.

NOTICE:
The Five Day Class is now incorporating instruction on the New Family
Search program.
Most classes are followed by a hands-on laboratory period with individual
one-on-one training for each student. The curriculum includes training
in the research process and computer training covering PAF 5.0,
all aspects of FamilySearch, FamilySearch on the Internet, and clearing
names for the temple using TempleReady for Windows. Details about
the content of the classes can be viewed in the
Class Summary PDF. Attendees are encouraged to bring any of
their own Family History information with them that would possibly
allow them to clear a name for the temple during the class. A temple
trip to do sealings will take place on the last day of class.
Daily Schedule
Classes start on Monday morning at 8:00 AM at the former Seminary
building of the Farrer Junior High School located at 85 North 600
East in Provo, Utah. There will be morning and afternoon classes
each day, with an optional class on Wednesday evening for those
students interested in or involved with Name Extraction. The following
is a more specific schedule:

* As an added bonus, lunch time seminars on topics of family history
interest are held daily from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. Attendance at
these seminars is optional.
Attendees may leave for home anytime after the temple session. All
attendees are expected to wear missionary attire to class. No classes
should be missed except for unexpected illness.

Travel and housing costs are the responsibility of the student.
If out-of-town students do not have friends or relatives with whom
they can lodge for the week, we can provide assistance in finding
an alternative at a reasonable cost.
